According to a report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Duquesne guard T.J. McConnell has decided to leave the team and transfer.
McConnell was the Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year and was named a third-team and all-defensive selection this year.
He was the main building block for head coach Ron Everhart, and after losing B.J. Monteiro to graduation, the 2012-13 season would figure to be difficult.
Tim McConnell, T.J.'s father, told the Post-Gazette that, “he loves Ron Everhart and we can’t say enough good things about him. This has nothing to do with coach Everhart or the Duquesne administration, or the university. It’s a great school. T.J. just feels like he would like to try and play at a higher level.”
It will be interesting to see what path he attempts to take. The 5-foot-10 guard has great vision and can penetrate into the lane with ease.
